There may still be over a month to go until the Solar Decathlon final in Madrid, but the Nottingham H.O.U.S.E is already a winning project after it was awarded top prize in the inaugural Timber at Ecobuild Awards.
Organised by Timber Trades Journal in association with sister title Timber & Sustainable Building, the awards were designed to recognise exhibits and attractions that helped to promote wood as a sustainable choice for construction.
The Nottingham H.O.U.S.E, which features a timber cassette panel structure supplied by Pasquill, along with cladding and decking from International Timber, beat off stiff competition to take the award, which was presented by TTJ editor Mike Jeffree to Stuart McKill, Managing Director of Pasquill, Professor Mark Gillott and members of the student team.
Judges described the stand as a vibrant and pivotal display for timber and wood products, commenting that the student architects and engineers manning the attraction were some of the best ambassadors timber and timber building could have. In addition, they said the partnership between academia and the timber building products businesses displayed by the project was ‘truly inspirational’.
